Social networks exacerbate the illusion that we are less happy than others.
This Stanford psychology study by Benoit Monin discovered that those endlessly happy posts on Facebook and Twitter paradoxically contribute to loneliness and depression.  If you spend any time with social media, you learned long ago that upbeat and genuine posts attract the most response.  But often, those two guidelines interfere with each other.  I’d love to see a social environment where being honest about your challenges and needs is accepted — even rewarded — which in turn inspires people who participate.
